Wearable Housing
Wearable Housing
Category — Fashion & Architecture
Project — NTUA Diploma Thesis
In Wearable Housing we are comparing the similarities between Fashion and Architecture, and finding that these two are more similar than we may think. Both their objective is to ultimately cover and protect the human body, just in two different scales. In the modern metropolis, with its fast pace and constant changes, people are always in motion, living a nomadic life in a way. By exploring more in depth the way nomads live and their needs for a transportable house, we come to the conclusion that the most convenient way of living would be a wearable house that people can carry around wherever they go. Through comparisons, examination of specific social groups but also analysis of examples, the garment is examined as a form of residence, its viability is investigated and at the same time arises the question about the new design conditions for the designer-architect.
